What do mortgage lenders look for?

Hi,
I’m due to give up my rented flat to use the money to clear my £5000 debts over the next 12 months.
Different friends have been good enough to put me up for a year while this happens.
In 18 months I’ll be debt free/credit file restored and will have saved the deposit for a house with my girlfriend.

Question is, although I’ll be debt free, will a mortgage company be ok with my 18 month spell not paying rent somewhere? How do they view peoples history?

Cheers

Electoral role registration should be maintained if possible. Where is all your post going to be sent?
