Lloyds upgraded my basic account to a Classic account

Just wanted to share this good news as I'm coming up to the last few months until my BR falls off my credit file, and to show that there is life after bankruptcy!

I went bankrupt back in September 2013, so BR is still on my credit file. I have a few different basic accounts, one of which is Lloyds, which I've been using without any issues. I've been able to use online banking, a debit card (without Contactless) and open savings accounts. This week, without requesting it, I got a letter through to say that they're changing my Basic account to a Classic account. :j
"You've had your Basic Account for a while and because of the way you've managed your money, you are eligible for an account with more features and services. So, on 24 June 2019, we'll change your account from a Basic to a Classic account."

This will allow me to apply for an overdraft, use Contactless and mobile payments, get cashback using Everyday Offers and request a chequebook.

For me, having a chequebook will be the main thing I've missed - I've only needed cheques a handful of times in the past few years, but it's a pain having to ask my OH to write a cheque for me. I don't need an overdraft as I'm budgeting well :T, and I already have Contactless on my Nationwide basic account so I've used that card when I prefer to use Contactless.

    This is good news :)

I am going to be discharged in 7 weeks and I can’t wait! This Br has seemed way to easy, I’m going to cross my fingers that the OR doesn’t come back to me with anything before that date and then it’s time to start doing some over time and get saving...

I love nationwide flex basic I don’t see the need to be ‘upgraded’ as such I never want an overdraft again :)
  • I seem to recall getting a email lat year from lloyds , saying they were upgrading basic accounts to contactless , this was happening in 2019 , I wasnt happy , as at present with chip/pin ,I cannot go overdrawn , even by one penny

this is the way I like it
