Chances of getting a mortgage

Hi
Me and my partner are trying to plan ahead and get ourselves in a good position to get a mortgage hopefully this time next year .
My partner works full time through an agency , he’s only been there a year but would be 2 next year . He earns 26000 . He has 2 credit cards , used but will be paid off.
I work part time and earn 23000 been there 11 years , I have 2 credit cards , owe nothing on them but used and paid off each month . We both have an overdraft but haven’t used that for a few months .
We have 2 children
Partner doesn’t have any adverse credit
I have a default on file from November 16 for £1600( when partner was out of work)
We are looking at houses about 220000 and we will have a 5% deposit saved up .
I was just wondering how likely we would be accepted for a mortgage , I’m really worried my default will stop us getting one . Thanks for your help

Speak to a mortgage broker. They would be best suited to find a lender to match your circumstances.0

At 95% it will limit your options, but should be achievable - although rates may be a littleh higher than norm.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
