My husband and I are lucky enough to be in a position to buy our first home with a deposit of 255k. We would like to set a budget of around £285k therefore borrowing around 30k. Our credit history is not fantastic, there are no ccj’s or anything but a couple of defaults for both of us over the last few years. In total we have around 3500 of debts on credit cards and a loan, my husband is self employed with 2 years of accounts. Do we stand any chance of getting the 30k mortgage or would we be better to lower our budget. Been doing lots of google searches but bad credit mortgages seem a bit of a mine field
Thanks in advance

A lot will depend on when the defaults were registered.
I would imagine there will be lenders due to it being such a low loan amount but without knowing more it is difficult to say.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
