Wellbeing meeting at work

I am currently recovering from heart surgery and have been off work since 25th January. This was a planned surgery and I was advised by the doctor that I would be off for around 4 weeks but due to complications I am still signed off. As soon as I advised them I would need longer off work they have been less than helpful to say the least. They have questioned what I am doing while I am off, where I am going etc, my boss has implied that they will get someone in to replace me on more than one occasion. The last week or so since they got wind that I'd joined a union they have been slightly better and have now sent a letter and invited me to a wellbeing meeting next week, they have said I can bring someone to the meeting with me but have stated in the letter that it cannot be another member of staff. I feel they've done this on purpose as they know the majority of my support network work with me.

Thanks in advance

What does your union say? Can you persuade a union rep to accompany you?
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

How long have you worked there?
How much longer are you expected to be off work?

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time

Which begs the question, if you are on the sick what is taking all your time up.

It is the Easter holidays and I am a single parent so didn't go down to check my post until after the union office had closed. I only received the letter today

Given less than 2yrs service and nearly 4 months of that off sick I wouldn't be expecting to return.

How much longer do you expect to be signed off? In the end, you don't have to go into details as to what your complications are and why you need longer to recover, but it does seem they are starting to believe that you are using the surgery as a way to stay off sick longer and growing cynical.

Personally, I would go thecthecmeeting and opt for being totally honest as to what the complications are, why they restrict you from working and discuss when you think you might be able to come back.
