Pension Wise

I tried Pension Wise however I wanted to know about a GMP element of a pension and they couldn’t help as it was outside of their scope. TPAS were able to give guidance. They have an online webchat system so maybe ask them.0

You might find that its advice that you really need, and if it involves the LTA (and presumably you breaching it), then paying someone who is qualified to do it might end up saving you a lot of money in the long run.Not an expert, but like pensions, tax questions and giving guidance. There is no substitute for tailored financial advice.0

Exactly my experience too. Really didn't learn anything more than what this forum has given me. TBF I should have realised it's pretty low level to help those with little or no understanding of the options available.0 -

I empathise with this post.My session was very much script-driven too, with the emphasis on options for utilising a DC pot. A couple of my more esoteric questions were sidestepped - so I doubt your LTA issue will be sorted.
However, having content delivered face-to-face reinforced what I'd read so definitely worth an hour of my time.0 -
I had a telephone chat with one about a year ago. He was a retired IFA and very knowledgeable. He wasn't using a script and I just had some questions. I learned a couple of things and it was useful for when I started getting IFA quotes for a drawdown.0

Pensionwise only cover DC pensions. TPAS can do DB and DC.0

I had my meeting yesterday and this sums my experience as well. Glad I did it but you don’t get any specific information, so it won’t suit everyone.
My phone meeting lasted 70 minutes and could have gone on longer, but I was aware I had gone into the next persons slot so didn’t ask all my questions. I am pleased I had done some research before hand and asked questions on this forum as it meant I didn’t waist some of the time on some really basic stuff although they do have to follow a format and tell you certain things. I was able to ask questions at any point during the meeting which helped.0 -
I had a very helpful lady who actually went over and beyond to help me, although I appreciate she really should not had told me....
"If I were you"..... but along with help on this forum I made the right choice for me.0
