Recessions server a purpose - to remind us all about debt leverage and to shake out zombie companies.
We're overdue a recession not because it's been ten years, but because various debt types are all at record highs and a number of completely unfeasible companies are still operating ONLY because of low interest rates and QE.
We used QE/ZIRP to temper the impact of the Great Recession. It worked, it should have been unwound five years ago and a period of no/very low growth followed. Instead we just carried the show on.
The ensuing recession will be painful, like it should have been last time. Asset prices are practically all at record highs so if you have them and want to cash in some gains....0 -
I don't think we'll see another recession again... they'll just keeping printing and zirping to oblivion now.
I'm not sure just when oblivion will come about or what it will entail, but it feels like they could carry on this current charade of 'fiscal intervention' for decades.0
