christmas

I've already started to get a few bits and pieces together ( foodwise ) and i always try to prepare well but inevitably end up unprepared in some areas. i wondered if we might prepare a list which could be ultimately put into computer document and printed off each year.eg dishwasher tablets etc.
just a thought to make life easier.any ideas?

    Hi harvestmoon,

What a great idea! This is a good thread for the Christmas board so I'll move it across for you but leave a re-direct here so that Old Stylers can easily access it too.

A few items I always forget:

    Batteries of all sizes
    Headache tablets
Calpol (essential if you have little ones)
    Indigestion tablets
spare table cloth (My DD accidentially spilt red wine all over the xmas table two years ago)
    Cling Film
Lift the Turkey/Christmas day meat out of freezer early enough to defrost.
    Sellotape

I could go on and on,

    Merlot

Pink, you're quick, no-one was here when I started typing!

    great idea!! a few more:
    • if you're doing a turkey/big joint - turkey extra wide foil.
    • Videotapes or DVDs for recording programmes
    • make sure you've got enough plates/cutlery/glasses (good time of year to do an assessment for that!)
    • survival kits for power cuts (yes i know depressing thought but also necessary)
    • spare christmas cards and stamps
    Hope that helps!

    Paper/plastic plates, cutlery & tumblers

They can be picked up fairly cheaply and eliminate the need for washing up after things like cakes/sandwiches/nuts etc.
