O/S Daily Wednesday 10th April 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those that are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry underfoot but air feels a bit chilly. I did peg a line of washing out yesterday and it got dry even after the grey cloudy start which then turned into a reasonably sunny day.
DH up and getting ready for work as is DS1, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppas and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was pork steaks braised in gravy with mash, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO yorkshires, peas/mixed veg (found in the bottom of the freezer), was declicious. Tonight we'll have fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Yesterday work started off slow but then was busy - so not sure what today will bring, hoping for another busy one as it makes the day pass quickly, and once I've finished today not back until Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Its a bit overcast and cold here but its meant to brighten up later on. Off to work for me and its birds of prey today so should be busy.
Taff the truffle pasta is from Aldi and is delicious, we had it with a tomato and onion salad and a green leaf salad with some sundried tomatoes and crushed avocado with some truffle balsamic and dough balls its truly a delicious meal and fairly cheap and so easy to make takes about 10 mins to get it together, one packet of the truffle pasta does the both of us.
Not sure about tonight but might do a 'flambe' which is kind of like a puff pastry pizza which is also very quick to make.
DW needs putting on this morning and the bins have gone out ready.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for staring us off nmlc
Today look a bit brighter, we're going to visit mother and then a visit to sm, only need a few things.
Wm on, hopefully I can line dry it all. Need to get some plants re-potted and get into the garden and do a few jobs but we'll see.
Thoughts with all those struggling at the momentIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning All
It's another lovely day here, the sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky. We have had a frost though, glad I brought the little sweet pea plants in. I got all the throws washed yesterday along with towels and various coats and scarves, feels good to have them all freshened up.
Good grief Nanny, that was a shock for you, hope everyone's OK.
Sorry you had a bad day Gers, hope today is better.
Good to hear from you MM.
Hugs to all those struggling.
I planted some seeds yesterday at the allotment, they are all safely tucked up in the little greenhouse there and so far the birds have left the onions alone. Came home and painted the fence so that's a job done.
I'm off to Dundee today with a friend, we're staying overnight. I want to see the new V&A and my pal wants to go to St Andrews tomorrow, hope the weather stays fine.
Have a good Wednesday, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun has got his hat on and forecast to keep it on so a pleasant day in store for us.
It's my gallivanting day with my bus buddies today. We are still undecided whether it be Skipton or Otley. My friend was quite taken with St Gemma's everything 99p cs last time so I am thinking it will be Otley again. We will make a decision when we meet.
Of course lunch is involved so another no-cooking day for me. Yesterday's lunch was delish - broccoli and cheese bake, with salad and garlic bread.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning
Ruby that sounds gorgeous...very masterchef
Nanny I know I shouldnt....I really shouldnt ..but i had to laugh at the image of your roof man and belly laugh...only because he was OK mind ...sorry
Bit chilly today but such a beautiful blue sky and sun. Realised it hadn't rained for as long as I can remember so I had to get out with the hose pipe for the first time this year.
Yesterday was the usual challenge with mum and yes the soaps were thoroughly debated ...well Carla from corrie was anyway. The big question on repeat was "do you think someone will murder Carla" The answer "I dont care" didn't stop the question cropping up again 5 mins later.
Working this morning I have some mock interviews to do for some school leavers ..on the phone today least there is no cam to stress about. I love doing these.. the hope in the voices of the kids heading out in the world is inspiring.
The freezer dive this morning produced some of my fish pie just missing the mash I think so with some peas thats grub sorted.
Hope you all have a wicked Wednesday0 -
Good morning everyone,
Happy hump day, too
Yesterday I ended up trying the new boxing class which my ex-colleague had suggested. Despite his typically unpredictability, he did actually come along too. It was super hard work, to the point where I felt sick - twice - and I would say I'm relatively fit too. Anyway, despite the hour long torture, it was good to be back in gloves again as it's been about 2 years since I done some boxing. The gym is 5 minutes from me, so I've no excuse now.
I quite literally rolled into bed afterwards and again slept right through thanks to having no energy. No gym this morning, but I have yoga at lunch and I'll go a run after work too.
Yesterday NSD #5 (boxing was budgeted) although I do need to spend today. My tortillas I was using for my lunches seem a bit too hard, which means I'm lunchless today and I need to buy a new pack to do me for the rest of the week.0 -
Hi everyone, I am not ill, just feeling very down and dismal.
Today I've washing finishing in the machine, things to do this morning and then a former colleague has asked me to meet her to discuss a specialist area of work so I see that running seminars and providing written information before I left was less effective than I'd hoped.
Hope everyone is doing ok.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
We're off to get Ziggy this afternoon so that Laura and Brian can go to Cornwall at the weekend. On the way we'll call in on a friend who has just had a baby boy and drop off the quilt I made. I hope she likes it, it's not your typical baby quilt.
I'll take down the ingredients to make sweet and sour chicken and broccoli and cashews in oyster sauce for dinner, it's one of Laura's favourites.
Steve is asleep again, he's been pressure washing the drive over the last couple of days which is quite hard work, it looks much better for it though.
AOD, I hope you feel better soon, it's horrible when the black dog strikes.0 -
morning all. It's D Day or Radio day, the beginning of the end...Not sure how I feel about this beyond, yep, nearly finished followed by panic about lingering side effects although Jackie would be an inspiration to anyone the amount she manages to fit in. I think I'm just in mental sick mode instead of mental yay mode.
Spent some time last night trying to tell a friend that there's no reason why she shouldn't tell herself how great she is instead of thinking of how bad she is. What is wrong with telling yourself you're fab instead of telling yourself how rubbish you are? We'll see....
Nanny, bit of a scare there then? Good job he's ok! SO, hope the visit passes well, does she do puzzles at all? Nelski, think we had your rain, you're most welcome to it back though...AOD, you can have some hugs then. red ruby, thanks for that, I will go and have a look sometime this week thenspeky, not seasoning, I put plenty in, I'm not tasting sweet things again as much, might have some kind of tongue problem again...you are beginning to sound like the ultimate fitness warrior , you know that don't you? And Gers will be joining you after park walking
hope your mam does better today. TA, enjoy your shennanigans, hope you find a bargain! thanks camelot and OL, definitely avoiding those kinds of sweets...I can do without that kind of present...
Yo Holly! Wotcha absentees....
Winsome Wednesday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Morning all,
It's a glorious day again, though a bit nippy.Yesterday my best and oldest friend drove down and we went out for lunch, a place where you can see the hills for miles. We've been before but the portions were a bit meagre, and were much better yesterday, perhaps someone complained. She seems to be doing very well now after her breast cancer & subsequent treatment last year, thank goodness:)
I was hoping DH would have a bit of time off today,he's finished pricing up a job,and DS is working at his own house,so he offered to go with him but I think DS2 wants a little break from his dad today. I can tell he's itching to go to work so he's just popping to the bulders merchants to sort out my DB's kitchen, then he'll just do a little bit of plastering. We may get a couple of hours before DGD arrives
Had to order a new kettle which should come today,it works intermittently & keeps going off so it takes ages to boil.Cant complain,it was a cheapie 5 years ago to keep here when we were renovating. When we moved in our , old one broke so we fished it out and used it ever since and it's had a lot of use :rotfl:
AOD,sorry you are low.Holly,Poppy and Taff - big hugs
Better go and fish something out for tea,bye for now xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
