Credit check after exchange?

We have a mortgage offer agreed with Nationwide and we exchanged today.
Stupidly I took out credit between offer in Jan and now not thinking. Since when I panicked and have returned the money so that loan is no more.
My credit file has not updated to say a 0 balance and I am worried that there will be another credit check between now and completion and our mortgage offer will be withdrawn? Has this happened to anyone? Do mortgage companies re credit check between exchange and completion?
