Recommendations for aromatherapy/essential oils book

I'm wanting to get a book on essential oils as a gift.
I would like something that not only covers the benefits/propeties of many oils but also has information on the best ways to use them for these benefits. Be that in an oil burner, massage oil etc etc
Anyone got a good recommendation? So far only searched Amazon and found a few, hard to tell which would be best without seeing it. Might have to use the local book store as a library

Hi Jimbo
The best books I've come across are by Valerie Ann Worwood, very comprehensive yet easy to understand, in fact my copy of Fragrant Pharmacy needs replacing as it's been used so much.
Good luck

I definitely agree with bluesindy, The Fragrant Pharmacy is superb and full of practical uses. I've bought lots of books on aromatherapy but this is the only one I use time and time again.16 x Sanyo HIT 240w panels, 3.84kWp, south facing, 30 degree slope in the SW, 4.4 Eltek HE-t inverter installed 27/03/12

Thanks. Shows how good MSE forum is, I never even found these books on my previous Amazon search. The Fragrant Pharmacy looks ideal.0

I like Chrissie Wildwood too. I find Valerie Ann Worwood's blends far too strong.
My favourite book is The Complete Guide to the Use of Aromatic Oils in Aromatherapy, Herbalism, Health and Well Being by Julia Lawless. I also like Shirley Price.0 -
Chrissie Wildwood is very good. I'm studying Aromatherapy as part of my degree at the moment, and the set texts are by Robert Tisserand and Shirley Price. Shirley Price was instrumental in the return of Aromatherapy to modern society, so needless to say she certainly knows her stuff

I forgot to mention...there's a book called Arousing Aromas about that is really really fabulous..it's what inspired me to start studying. Can't remember the author though. Should be on amazon.0
