Have you checked your current forecast on gov.uk?
It will give you the position to 05:04:2018, too early for 2018:29 yet.
What is your State Pension age?
Did "someone" know your full personal circumstances? Or were they generalising?0 -

The page you're after is this one:
The number of more years you need to work for a full state pension is where it says "contribute another 6 years" in that diagram.
And who is this "someone" who claims to know more about your pension than the government website?Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
Check the government website. I don't see how the person you were speaking to knows how many years if any you are short. If you were 4 years short in 2016 presumably due to contracting out then the assumption would be you will just about be ok by 2020.
I retired at 58 and had 40 years contributions and was only 4 years short of full pension due to COPE. I will be making up 3 by claiming NI credits from my DD for childcare for my DGDs from 2018-2021 and the last year only adds pennies to my pension so won't bother with that one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. If you were told in 2016 that you needed four more years for a full NSP and have contributed 16/17, 17/18 and 18/19 you may only need one more year.0
