First time buyer - or not
harina
I am currently searching for a home. I had a joint mortgage , once, 20+ years ago and had it about a year. Basically marriage broke up. I have not had a mortgage since then. I am now searching mortgage deals but I dont fit categories. I am not really a first time buyer although it has been a long time since i had a mortgage. I do not currently own a property so am not re mortgaging to move home.
It has been suggested by someone there is some sort of statute of limitations and some lenders might consider me as a first time buyer? Any experiences?

Then "someone" is talking nonsense - there is no universal definition of "first time buyer" and lenders can make up their own rules for their products. It probably doesn't make a great deal of difference to what mortgage you can get.It has been suggested by someone there is some sort of statute of limitations and some lenders might consider me as a first time buyer?
But you should bear in mind that you're not a first time buyer for the purpose of Help to Buy or SDLT/LBTT/LTT (i.e. "stamp duty").0
