Which presumably puts you in a better position than your doppelganger, Walter Wiggletop, who has had 45 years contracted-in and continues to pay NI for no further state pension benefit while you (thanks to the new state pension system) earn a bit more than you would have done...?

He would get a lot more than the maximum new state pension if he was contracted in for 45 years

The maximum additional state pension you can get in 2019/20 is £176.41 a week (not including state pension top-up).

Walter Wobbletop gets old-style ASP indeed. However, he's been paying more tax and NI than you (assuming your headline salaries were identical), and hasn't benefited from whatever other pension you have from contracting out.

You however get whatever you were going to get for both the pension you were contracted out with and the pre-16 state pension, plus additional new state pension as well.
