Bankruptcy help

HI all, newbie here with some questions please:
I have been to stepchange who advised bankruptcy is my cheapest and quickest option but IVA is also an option, i have a statement that ive done with them but note that ive not been given anything for a holiday budget, some of the allowances ive been given seem low compared to what we spend.
And theyve pushed for my partners income even though he really doesnt want to give it as his credit rating is good, looking on here it seems he doesnt legally have to provide any details?
If he doesnt (need some clarification), can someone advise as to what is actually classed as family debt? im not too happy with the advice ive been given so far and its a big step.
My income is under £1400 per month and i have almost £70K of debt
Thanks

If your partner earns more than you, the general advice is that your partner should choose not to provide income and the OR will assume all household costs are split 50/50.
However, if your partner has debts to service that bring his/ her total to under half it may make sense for him/ her to provide income.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks very much. He does earn more but also pays out a lot under his own name. I have a lot of debt that was before we got together.
I'll see how I get on thanks0
