Payday loan overdue despite email saying full and final payment received.
I stupidly took out a pay day loan with lending stream back in 2014. Unfortunately at the time I was struggling financially, and the loan ended up being transferred to a debt collection agency.
I can’t remeber what agency this was sent to.
I have recently looked at my credit file and I can see there is still a lending stream account open with an over due payment of £118 dating back to 2014. I thought it was very odd as I believed this debt was cleared and I haven’t heard off lending stream for years.
I searched my emails for anything I could find on the account and I found an email off lending stream in June 2017 saying
Congratulations! We received your final payment for loan ID number ######## and the loan is now closed.
So I forwarded this email on to lending stream and asked them to amend their credit file on me.
They have now informed me that I received this email due to a technical error and that the loan is still outstanding.
What should I do should I pay the £118.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation??

I agree. Definitely make a complaint in writing (via Royal Mail), politely asking them to remove all negative markers from your credit file(s). After all, the arrears is down to them sending you incorrect information. If they refuse to fully comply with your request, then you can escalate to the ICOI work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0
