  • Hello all, so, I no longer use my credit cards, one I can't trust myself and two, I would rather stick needles in my eyes.....I have kept though, a small reaccuring payment going.... On each card, plus the debt which I'm chipping away at.
Cc1, kindle, bal now cleared in full.... CARD CUT UP.

This credit card, interest and all this debt has given me so much grief, entirely my own fault
This week I managed to pay off a credit card.....
Let's say its called credit card 1.
I've done LOADS of overtime and well, it's just been a great feeling paying it off.
On this card I'm now not owing a penny.
I have an automatic payment going out on it, a purchase of a kindle amount of £7.99 every month.
I'm very happy with myself about this.
However today, the cc1 has contacted me today to tell me that I'm now a 'gold' member, and offered me a credit increase of 5,000.00 from 2.
I politely declined the very kind offer and explained that I don't need it. I'd said I was trying to improve my rating and I'd like my dd to be set up to take the full balance.
Meaning I'm keeping it open, spending a small amount of 7.99 and clearing in full.
They said, I need to be spending more on the card to show on my credit file.
My friend is a financial advisor and she has strongly advised me NOT to close my cards, it will be reviewed again
However, I'm being told off cc1 today that 7.99 is not a sufficient amount to be spending and ideally I need to be making purchases and paying full
Kindle of 7.99 is a purchase, and I'll be clearing in full.
Or have I got it wrong here?
    I don't like cc1 by the way!!
    Thank you LL.

It does seem strange that they are saying your payment is not enough. Could you put general household spending on it and arrange that the full balance is taken each month?

  • I think what I'll do is, because I've cut up the card, is, see how it goes. I think it was a selling thing, it doesn't show on my credit file what I'm buying, it shows I'm using it, and paying in full on a purchase. I'll monitor it and see though. Thank you..ill keep you informed

This cc1... Again... I've just logged into the account and I'm 645.18 in credit..... I have done loads of overtime and paid in my money. I also paid in small amounts and so when I paid it this week, its not updated and I just paid the bal, I'm now in credit.
My question..... Can I ring cc2 today and pay using my cc1 the exact credit amount to my cc2? So I'm not transferring, I'm ringing up and paying over the phone.....cc1 did not say yesterday that I was in credit either by the way!!! Any advice, especially legal, rules etc for when I ring my other credit cards today is very welcome. I'll ring and get another card, but I'll ring and see if cc1 are going to pay into my account too, as in fairness, I'm in credit, so rightfully I should be issued that refund anyway.
    Thank you L

  • In answer to my own question..... I've now found out that I can't pay off using the credit, to the other credit card. The good news is, that I'm in credit and they will transfer into my bank by Friday, meaning I can start paying down another chunk to cc2.

Well done on paying CC1. Sounds like they are a nighymare card for you so if just leave your small payment keep an eye on it and never go back. Ha ha. Im glad youve got the credit amount sorted and they are refunding you back.

  • And so...... The 650 over payment to cc1 still remains in their account.
Friday I checked my own account and it wasn't in as promised.
The excuse I heard made me shout and demand to put a complaint in.
They have taken full responsibility, listened to the call that told me I owed more than what I did, apologised because of an admin error and said they will put in my account next week.
Also said they will compensate me too..... But I still haven't got my cc overpaid amount back.
The fact I could use it to pay a bill, but the principal is the error of overpaying was them, and I want to pay it to my cc2.
    Moan over.
On a nicer note I've set up a chip account to put little amount of money out of my account. I'll see how it goes.

  • Hi all, I've got an appointment in the morning with the financial advisor who is my friend. I've asked her advice on building an emergency fund, which is following advice on here.
I opened up a chip account a couple of weeks ago and up to now I've got 50.00 in it, it seems to take small amounts out of my account. Usually those little amounts do go to debts, but after reading on here, I have thought about a few things.
Mostly what an emergency is really. I've got set aside money already which is for car, Uniforms, Christmas and this was in the budget, as my friend said, these are not emergency items, these have to be budgeted for.
So I'm asking her if I can get this sorted and have an emergency fund payment out of my money.
I'm not as worried about debts as I was when they were over 29 grand, and even getting the huge bill from eon didn't bother me.
I do still have 8 grand debt, and I'm still attacking it, I'm very tired from the overtime, but probably not as tired of all the worry of debts, in fact, I have worked hard more on myself to tackle my terrible spending habits, it's been like coming off drugs, and I can't live without my spending diary now, but I'm pleased that I've been able to go into a shop and not actually buy anything, because I don't actually want to, my treat for that is, and not buying anything is I'll put more money into a credit card debt, sad I know, but I am getting satisfaction from this, but I now need an emergency fund.
Do you think 1,000.00 is ideal???
Emergency fund for me would have been for dipping into, but now I'm making changes to myself, I think it will comfort me that it's there. I'm not sure why I've not got one, but I'm going to get one.....but what do you guys class as an emergency.
