On 30th November St Andrews day, free admission on attractions

More than 60 of Scotland's top visitor attractions will open for free on St Andrew's Day, Friday 30 November. Castles, museums, gardens and abbeys across Scotland from Orkney to Jedburgh will take part. They range from Edinburgh Castle to remote sites such as Arnol Black House, Lewis.

The initiative is designed to encourage Scots and visitors to Scotland to celebrate Scotland's heritage and culture on Scotland's national day. This is a joint initiative between The National Trust for Scotland, Historic Scotland and the Association of Visitor Attractions (ASVA) - you can find out what is open for FREE near you below.

The move is part of the Scottish Government's efforts to transform 30 November into a broad celebration of the country's history and culture.

Totally agree - talk about grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. Probably some dimwitted civil servant behind this decision. Why not make it the nearest weekend to St. Andrew's day?
