Credit check - Does it tell company your living situation e.g renting?
I heard it’s better for your credit score to have been living at a property for 3 years + but I moved into my own flat (private renting) recently after being in my father’s house for many years. I have a good credit score at the moment but I now need to apply for a personal loan.
I am wondering whether it is better to keep my address as my Father's on Equifax? (I have not changed it via the Elec reg just yet).
My subsequent questions would be whether the loan company would be able to figure out I am now privately renting?
Does a credit check tell them I have a tenancy in my name?
Does the credit check tell them I moved into a new property and I am the lead payer of council tax?
Any helpful replies would be really appreciated.
Kind regards.

Well, telling a loan company you're living at a different address to what you actually live it is technically fraud, so probably best not start off an application for credit that way."Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0

While lenders won't care about your credit score, they will very much care if you have fraud markers.0 -
Agree with above posters... a sure way to ensure you only ever get declined for credit in the future is to be caught out submitting fraudulent applications (fraud markers are shared amongst lenders)0

Some landlords report to CRAs, but they tend to be big renters such as housing associations.
Some utility companies report to CRAs.
If you've updated your address with any financial institution (bank, credit card, mobile phone, etc) they will inform the CRAs about your new address.
Loan applications usually ask about your residential status and outgoings.0 -
I heard it’s better for your credit score Forget the credit score. Stability of address looks better to lenders when assessing your application. to have been living at a property for 3 years + but I moved into my own flat (private renting) recently after being in my father’s house for many years. Does a credit check tell them I have a tenancy in my name? Not normally unless for some reason the landlord is reporting your payments to CRA's
Does the credit check tell them I moved into a new property and I am the lead payer of council tax? No

Your real problem here is that you are on the Electoral Roll at one address but actually live at another. Do you have any utility accounts in your name at the new address? At which address are your credit agreements (bank account, credit cards, phone contract etc) registered?
The most important thing here is consistency.
If everything you have is still registered at your father's address and you still regard that as your permanent address, your stay in the rented accommodation being temporary, then I don't really see a problem in using that address provided that it is used for all purposes and you can be contacted there.
The problems will start if you start mixing addresses, using one for some things and the other for other things.0 -

If you have applied for any credit at your new address or changed your address on anything that reports to CRAs then they already have that address linked. Some companies will allow you to have a different correspondence address or you can just leave your post sent to your dads address.
I've never noticed my council tax reported to any CRA but my water company is and I have had energy companies report in the past. If you have any utilities and told them your old address then there is already a link.
Technically there is nothing to stop you renting somewhere but treating your main residence as your fathers. I have known people with complicated living arrangements that said they lived at addresses that belonged to friends or relatives which they never actually slept at & they never received a fraud marker.
You just need to be consistent, which is usually why you're better off with the truth & don't default on any debt as if you don't keep up to date with your mail then you could default and get a debt collector turn up.0
