O/S Daily Wednesday 3rd April 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, and those who are poorly or looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now getting light here, damp underfoot after rain that lasted from late morning into the afternoon and more forecast for today and tomorrow. Temperature has dropped too.

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and doing ok.

Dinner last night was gammon, roast potatoes, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO yorkshires, mushy peas and gravy - no waste, LO's used up. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost for tonight, so will have those roasted possibly with pasta in a sauce.

Yesterday work was busy so the day passed quite quickly. Last full working day for me then I'm on days' off but working Saturday.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Brr it's a nippy start here with quite a thick frost. The sun is up but light showers are forecast. The heating is on for half an hour just to take the early chill off.

DD is picking me up on the way to school as we are off over to the caravan site to finish setting up. Her and her bf have worked hard in among working and got the worst of it done. Just odd bits left to do today and then it's ready for habitation! Looking forward to admiring the new awning and it's new carpet!

Lunch is packed, just some of my celery soup to warm and put in the flask last minute. I have some of the everlasting gammon left which will do for me tonight. The DGDs will be here for late tea after their dancing classes so I think it will be pizza for them. Then the usual sleepover follows as DD is on an early shift tomorrow. A busy day in store.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely amongst us. Take care all xx

    Morning all

Brrrr very cold here this morning with a thick frost, I have to confess its my OH fault that the weather has turned, he got the garden umbrella out Monday and its been cold and damp ever since :o:rotfl: Will get him to put it away again sharpish.

Off to work for me and the Wednesday group with the one loud one and the rest are quiet, he more than makes enough noise for the rest of them.

Got to have a look in the freezer after this for something for dinner although TA has remindd me that I have a gammon joint in the fridge so I might cook that in the sc today for dinner tonight.

Bin day today so they will have to go out after this and the dw needs putting on before work.

AOD I miss your posts and wit ! Please come and post xx

    Have good days all xx

Good morning, it's grey and wet here, with sleet forecast brrr.

Redruby, yes, get that chap of yours to put the garden umbrella away, he's wrecked the weather!!

Sorry to hear you've got family problems OL, it's hard isn't it, There's always something.

Not much going on here today - I didn't have too bad a night, by my standards anyway.

There's the usual jobs. I should have got my arris into gear yesterday and done some washing, it would have dried. I might do the poly cotton stuff and dry it upstairs on the airer.

Thinking of the sad and poorly, hope everyone has a reasonable day.

    Take care folks.

    Morning :)

I after work yesterday I quickly visited the gym then headed home for haloumi, blackberry, spinach sandwiches (without the bread) and it was really quite nice. Was in bed for 10ish, done some reading then tried to nod off. However yet another poor nights kip meant I opted against the gym this morning. Why do I always seem to sleep easily when it's time to get up?!

Anyway, yoga today at lunch for a quick hour plus got football training tonight. Cauliflower macaroni cheese tonight for dinner.

Snoozer - Thanks for your advice. I think that's what i am going to do. Not rush things and see how I feel.

Morning all, it is cold and damp here - we had lots of rain and hail yesterday. I would like to go out today but the forecast is quite dismal so I'll probably wait as it is not urgent.

Sorry go have been absent, I have been reading along though. I've got some challenging things going on, nothing world-shattering but am feeling somewhat overcome.

I am feeling that the clocks going back suits me, I'd rather stick with this all year round.

Speky, I quite fancy that sandwich but without blackberries which I don't like.

OH has just got up and I've promised hot cross buns for breakfast, so better go and toast those. I got them on Sunday, he'd accidentally bought salted caramel and chocolate chip ones from Mr T and they are not nice, I've put some in the freezer for any forthcoming bun-type emergency when a not excellent bun is better than bunlessness but really am inclined to defrost them and feed them to the ducks.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning all. It's sunny outside but very brrr, have made some proper coffee o wake me up. Today I have a meet with a friend from ex work, and a meet with another friend to give the pressure washer back, and possibly a trip to Ikea, although I don't want anything except a few plates, and I swear I am not coming back with a bootful of interesting gadjets.
Don't know if sewing is on today, will message her later, I did say I'd take some grapes round so that will probably be tomorrow.
Am trying to find a home for a couple of large display units [ see Nelski? I said not to them!] so a lot of four way messaging is going on...The house is still fairly tidy but some de-cluttering will be done. And there are some tomato seedlings to pot on.
Hope you're all doing as well as can be expected, wotcha to the absentees, Holly, Hester, Poppy, Csarina, WeeMidgie, tru and more...
    Windfall Wednesday!

AOD, the salted caramel buns from M&S are scrummy, I don't like normal hot cross buns but the caramel ones are too moreish.

I watched the final of Sewing Bee last night -taff and was very happy with the result. It's not often that my favourite candidate in those things wins, probably just Nadiya on Bake Off and now last night's winner (I won't say who it was in case anyone who wants to see it hasn't yet).

Steve wet to his chemo appt by himself yesterday, he was only gone 3 hours and it was all fine.

Does anyone here do the Samurai Sudoku in the Saturday Times? It's 5 sudoku puzzles linked together in the shape of a cross and usually I can complete them fairly easily. Not this Saturdays, I've had about 10 attempts and every time I think I've done it and then find a fatal error at the end, it's driving me insane.

Snoozer, the Mr T ones have a nasty under taste. I can't describe it, just unpleasant. I think it might be worse if you are expecting a spicy, fruity bun, because we were! And they are huge, masseef.

I have to go and have a shower, if I don't, I never will.

    Morning folks.

Much colder and wetter in Glasgow just now, mind you there's not been any snow here.

I'm up and showered / dressed. DM has her porridge and now it's hanging about waiting for the DN to appear. My hope is to get DM out of bed and sitting in the living room for a wee while, need to make use of the wheelchair now that I've hailed it up those damned stairs!

Last night I indulged in a bout of self-pity helped (temporarily) by a glass of wine. I won't be doing that again, I've worked out that I like the taste but not the effect. :rotfl:

Right, onwards and upwards. Hugs to all, happy Wednesday too.

We have some sun but it's not going to last very long as snow/rain showers are predicted and the clouds are already gathering :(.
I was up early this morning as the DGC were coming to breakfast and then needed to be deposited at school. We are also on pick up this afternoon and then everyone is coming to tea except DSiL as he has his school inspection this week. I think he's taking advantage of a quiet house to get his work in order ;).
After leaving the DGC at school we did a round robin trip, first to Mr Fix It's surgery to drop off his script and then called in at the meat van on the way home.
Today I am waiting for a delivery, a new set of gaming headphones for the DGS, so I hope they come before he goes home tonight or he won't be a happy bunny :(.
In a minute I shall put the breakfast dishes in the DW and get that going and then I need to wash the halogen oven as Mr Fix It cooked smelly smoked bacon in it for his breakfast. Then it's just general pottering as I feel better today, but still haven't found all my get up and go...... I think some of it may be hiding under the bed :rotfl:.
Tea tonight will be hot dogs and french fries followed by chocolate gateau. Jasper dog will probably want some sausages too. I'm glad he's coming as I never need to hoover the dining room when he's been here :rotfl:.

Snoozer I watched the sewing bee and I'm glad that the person won too. Such flair, imagination and talent.
RedRuby your DH will get all the fault from me too, but I'm afraid the damage has been done no matter how quickly he puts that brolly away :naughty::D
AOD I hope you can overcome the problems that you are having. We are all here should you need to moan, vent or just to lend an ear if necessary. Meanwhile I am sending copious hugs your way.
TA enjoy the van trip. I can't wait for our first trip out, hopefully sometime in May.

Thinking of all the poorly people, those undergoing treatment, or anyone just struggling on a daily basis.
    Take care all
