If I were you I would put that 5 K or less on an average car with average miles, you could get a decent car that keeps going for those years when the 6 years is up and you really want a brand new lease then you will be treated as a ‘normal’ person :)

You can get a Fiesta a couple of years old for 5k that won’t depreciate too much, should pass MOTs for a couple of years without much work and be economical to run.

I speak from experience. We did this having financed and paid off a Mini and couldn’t wait to be free of the payments. I would never ever lease a car again.

Also you bankruptcy wasn’t too long ago... Did you learn much from that experience?

based on your other posts OP, you only starting your new job in a weeks time.

best advice i could offer would be to wait until you are in the door of the job at the very least. what happens if you leave this job in 6 months time? would you still be able to afford lease payments, or afford giving up the car and paying off any finance still owed?

with bankruptcy recently, and changing jobs at the moment, would be, in my opinion, very difficult to get any lease done
