Natwest asking for adverse credit explanation

Options
When a mortgage company like Natwest asks for a letter to explain adverse credit on an unused account - is this hopeful?

Long story short, separated from husband. We both have our own accounts but he still has a few direct debits like he hasn’t moved and he doesn’t always put money in there to cover them. Meaning I now have adverse credit on my report.

I have 2 other mortgages and have never missed a mortgage payment, yet this joint account with £100 overdraft is causing problems. I am in the process of coming off this account and husband is in agreement.

What are my chances of being refused at this point?

I mean it’s hopeful that they are giving me a chance to explain? There was also a bereavement that I explained in my letter too. It was them who actually noticed my payments for a grave and said they think somethjng has happened and they were right.

I’m just so nervous. I was initially refused. And now the mortgage in principle was approved. But I have the actual application to get through now.... anyone been asked for this and been refused?

Can’t stand the wait :(

Yes. Otherwise they wouldn't bother asking it.

Give them your reasons and you may be successful.

I would say you stand a good chance.

  • I am in the same situation currently with my Mortgage application with Natwest. Have a DIP and now reviewing our full application.
They asked us this week for an explanation for our adverse credit - was due to being on Maternity leave and took us 2 years to claw our way back.

We are going through a broker who are helpful is just an anxious wait to hear their decision.

    Good luck

So your ex has direct debits coming out your sole account? I would be cancelling them if he hasn't moved them.
