Hey! Just had a read after you posted on my diary.
You sound proper enthusiastic! It's great isn't it? Once that light bulb appears.
I see it all as a game or a challenge now as that seems to appeal to my super competitive streak, rather than thinking of it as paying off debts. Works for me could for you.
So in the words of jigsaw.........do you wanna play a game? :rotfl:

    (Subscribed by the way:T)

    Thanks Pip Boy :)

I'm seeing as a challenge too :D I actually got annoyed today as I had to spend unnecessarily today (forgot my lunch) which is a first for me I think

Things have slowed down after my initial burst of activity and I don't want to lose momentum or enthusiasm.
I've done all I can so far for the month, although sticking to budget is an ongoing job :D, but until payday or an unexpected windfall (fingers crossed) I'm twiddling my thumbs a bit...

Current acc has had no movement, I'm using Monzo for day to day so no tilly tidying to be done :(
Waiting to hear outcome from my mis-sold account claim, must be patient!
My eBay auction ends tomorrow, only 2 bids so far but loads of watchers

Must find ways to stay excited and motivated...

I find if you've got money coming in from other sources, ebay, sales, or surveys, it helps keep up the motivation as there's something to pay throughout the month. It seems a long month without any movement otherwise!

How about working out your debt free date, then Mark it on a calender or spreadsheet. Then cross off the days or have the spreadsheet tell you how many days left (and gone). Even when nothing much is happening you can see you're another day closer to debt freedom. Progress! :T

    Hi!

Just checking in and saw you haven't posted for a while. How is everything going? Hopefully still motivated (even if the excitement wears off).

    Hope things are well

Hey Pip! How are you? Hope it's all going well?

Yes, it's been ages, I never was very good at keeping a diary! :o

It's been a crazy couple of months; very busy with work, turned 40, had a holiday that I'd booked ages ago before my LBM, and trying to get to grips with living on a budget.

Halifax awarded me just over £1000 compensation for a mis-sold reward account :T I had planned to put it towards debt repayment but it actually ended up mostly being used for my holiday and 40th birthday celebrations. I won't lie; I did also treat myself to a few decent items of clothing :o However they're quality staple items that will last.

I know it seems backwards to have done this but to be honest the holiday needed paying for (I'd only paid for flights so far) and I would've ended up using credit to fund it so even though I spent my compensation I didn't run up more debt at least.

However, the sheer amount I've been having to pay for debts is crippling me (£1160 per month) I've been mostly good at sticking to my budget but my budget is so small after debt repayment it's been sooooooo difficult! No one will freeze or lower interest rates while I'm still able to make payments, even if said payments are astronomical!

Almost went down the IVA route again but it's too restrictive and I really don't like the thought of handing over control to someone else (I know, I know... my control, or lack of it, got me into the mess in the first place!) but it's not for me. The only good thing about an IVA is that all remaining debt gets wiped after 5/6 years.

So I'm in the early stages of a DMP and very happy about it. I'm going self managed, some excellent support and advice on another thread here and using the resources from NEDCAB and National Debtline. My credit score was bad anyway so in for a penny in for a pound!
