Broken/bad tooth down to gum.

Options
Hi, i broke a tooth eating a cheese sandwich, so i am assuming the tooth was not that great. It also broke into about three bits down to just above gum level, so not worth hanging on to it.
So i have seen my NHS/eastern europan dentist that has about 2 teeth him self & a serious breathing problem & he was very reluctant to do it. "Oh! i didnt say that its one of my front teeth" But while i was thier he did two fillings that as i am writing this have fallen out over the last few days. This work was done 4 days ago.
I want another dentist to do the work, but when i look for another dentist, they are either not taking on NHS or all have the notice up saying "Only by referral from a dental practitioner" Without sounding stupid, what's this mean if my dentist won't refer me????

May I suggest you get over the fact your Dentist is Eastern European, he is qualified to work here, and go back to him and ask him to redo your fillings for a start ( should be free seeing as they fell out so quickly)

Then whilst you are there, ask him what he is suggesting is done with this broken tooth. Even if he himself is not willing to do anything on the NHS for you in the way of replacing it, the root needs out, unless you are going to get private implants where I guess the longer the jaw is left undisturbed the better

All the NHS offer now is dental hygiene . They don't have to give you a smile as long as you have x amount of teeth

I had a tooth that fell apart in a similar manner. My dentist said he would have a try to save it, and many years later it is still there. Seems he did a good job. If two fillings fell out, I’d be looking to switch dentists. I’ve never had a filling fall out, not in 40+ years of fillings.

Not sure I’d trust NHS, they are not paid enough so the temptation must be to hurry.

The OP did not express any disquiet about the nationality of their dentist, merely stated it. Do you really think it is normal for two fillings to fall out after a few days? Does that indicate competence? Would you trust that dentist?

What did nationality have to do with the fillings coming out?

Could he have not left it at "My NHS Dentist ?"

Nope, he had to add the nationality

Give it a rest. I note you avoided answering the far more pertinent questions that I put to you. I would not go near that dentist.

As an aside, I felt very ill at ease with a locum at an NHS health centre, who seemed more interested in touching me than in providing a correct diagnosis. It took me ages to complain and when I did so the complaint was upheld - his diagnosis that I needed a heart pacemaker and had a serious heart condition was grossly wrong - and soon after he saw me he was dismissed after other patients complained about his manner. I would complain about this dentist. Two fillings falling out suggests incompetence, or faulty equipment.

Was the OP given any instructions about eating/chewing immediately afterwards.?

I have had fillings when I have been told not eat/bite on it for x hours to allow it to set fully.
I have also been told on occasion that a filling may not last due to the size of it. Luckily, it did.

What was the OP eating ? Anything that could dislodge a filling? My dentist told me the worst thing for fillings was Thornton's toffees

Eh? You’re the one making accusations, and getting upset. You need to calm down, and stop reading things into harmless remarks. There s a tendency of some to read something unpleasant into anodyne remarks.
