I know why I can't lose weight. I can't stop eating. I have no abilty to control what goes in. Even tried hypnotherapy.
Have you tried My Fitness Pal. I feel accountable to it as I log everything so I don't cheat. Give it a try if you can, the first week is the most difficult finding your way round the app and inputting food but after that it gets easier.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Not tried MFP but I was seeing a dietian and keeping a food diary for her for 6 months. I just used a spreadsheet on my phone0

I'm another one who just couldn't get on with myfitnesspal.
It seems geared to ready bought meals and sauces and is difficult to work out if you cook everything from scratch. I couldn't find half of what I wanted on the thing.
Tonight's tea is homemade curry with nothing out of a tin or bottle and I just can't be doing with measuring then trying to find each individual vegetable to put in.
They have a recipe builder area where you can create your meal, using the recipe and enter in the number of portions (you can even add in the online link to the recipe if there is one and it will find most of the ingredients for you). Then, when you have it, you just select that from the 'my recipe' tab and enter the portion amount you had.
I find MFP great. BUT, I find it does require quite a bit of effort up front. After that, it gets really simple.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I will also add that I think you need to accept that you will have to weigh and measure your food (at least at first). Eyballing portions rarely works, and can't be working well for you currently if you are not able to lose weight.
ie, how many grams does a 'medium' potato weigh? 100g? 200g? 300g? And it is skin on, or off? Calories in 100g of potato is circa 75 calories, but 300g is 225 calories. That can make a big difference to your perceived calorie deficit to someone of your height.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

I totally agree with weighing. The scales were our big friend.
However, you will get used to judging amounts eventually. If not following a a specific weight-loss recipe, you'd probably need to cut any recommendations for portion sizes on packets.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
