I am a tad embarrassed to ask this question because I know the answer is in the forum somewhere, but I have been unable to track it down.
I'm just trying to calculate the maximum lump sum we can pay in to my wife's SIPP and want to double check my calculations. Somewhere in the back of my head it is telling me that DB contributions can be treated differently to normal DCs.
So for this FY (March payroll).....
* Gross taxable pay = X
* LGPS employee contributions = Y
* SIPP (gross) contributions = W
Lump sum = X - Y - W

Y should already be deducted in X. Check consecutive payslips to be sure but I think all LGPS employers use "net pay", ie deduct pension conts before tax.
Otherwise looks right, ie probably X - W, assuming the annual allowance isn't an issue. If you're not sure, what's her pay, years service, any significant payrises recenly, in FS & CARE or just CARE?0 -
Thanks.
Gross taxable is just under £10k, so AA isn't an issue.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True
