Finding an old pension

Back in 1998 I worked for a company for just over a year, I found an old payslip when having a sort out last year which shows I was paying towards a pension. I have no paperwork for it for some reason although I have lived at 2 different addresses since so can only assume its been lost if I had any.
I used the pension tracing website and they sent me back what it had found it showed the company name and then under that it showed 'Current Name of the Pension' and all it shows is "Company Name' Group Pension scheme" followed by a 5 digit number which I assume is maybe a pension reference, scheme number? This does not help as it it does not tell me the provider.
The problem is the company has changed names since I left and has more recently been taken over by an American company and is now solely based in America so its showing 'Archived' under the Pension Tracing Website.
Is there any other way to find out who provided this pension when all I have is 'company name' Group Pension Scheme 12345' to go on.
Its frustrating as thats my money sat somewhere!!!

Maybe its a group scheme administered by the company or its appointed administrators? Is there any other way to find out who provided this pension when all I have is 'company name' Group Pension Scheme 12345' to go on.
Ask the employer personnel department. The parent should be able to point you in the right direction. Or name the company here as someone may be able to point you to the right place.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The Company was called 'Bookham Technology' they were based in Oxford at the time.0

Perhaps https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oclaro will give your some contacts0

Bookham is now Oclaro Technology - change of name, same company.
Just downloaded the 1997 accounts for 1997 and the required disclosure about pensions confirms the company had some sort of group personal pension arrangement - so even if you had only a year's service with them, there will be some small pension benefit somewhere resulting from that period of employment. (That's important to know, because had it been an occupational scheme, you would almost certainly have had a refund of any personal contributions when you left and nothing further due to you.)
Have a look at https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/02298887/officers and think about writing to the directors/secretary who were in office during your period of employment.0
