Have you every moved jobs to another city whilst on a fixed rate?

I am thinking about fixing my mortgage for five years to get a good deal. I don't see myself living her for five years (even one year).
I am told the mortgage is portable and I have an option of consent to let.
I would be interested to hear from others who have moved jobs whilst on a fixed mortgage (requiring a house move) and how easy/difficult this was. What did you do?
I would also be interested to hear from those who chose a specific mortgage option because they planned a job move within the near future.
