my brother

hello everyone, my brother went bankrupt about 6 weeks ago, and he is still getting threatening letters and phone calls. He has been unable to get hold of the chap dealing with it. Can you advise as to how long it will be before his details are passed on?
Thankyou in advance

It can take an age. All he has to do is to forward the letters to the Official Reciever and when they phone the conversation goes like this:

"Hello is that Mr.xxx? This is xxxx from xxx loans/credit"
"I was declared bankrupt on (insert date) and my case number is (insert) To comply with my duties under the Insolvency Act, I cannot speak to you about this matter and you must contact the Official Receiver dealing with it. Their address is: (insert address). Address all future enquiries to them. Goodbye."

Then put the phone down. Be blunt, to the point and don't get drawn into a conversation. Don't even confirm security details if they ask.

Plus make sure that all letters, and any concerns regarding threatening phone calls are forwarded in writing to the OR by your brother.

If they continue he may be able make a complaint regarding harassment.

Whatever happens he should not let these idiots intimidate or worry him. By declaring bankruptcy he has the full protection of the law with regards to former creditors. :D
