Council tax band challenge

Options
I have checked all my neibouring houses and their all in the same c/tax band as my property. I live in a two bed terraced amonght properties that are 2,3,4 and 5 bedroom.
I have made a search of my properties value in 1991in two different regions (wasn't sure which I fell into) and on both occasions fell into a band lower than I'm in.
I am unsure weather this alone is worth making a challenge. Has anyone been in this situation and been successful?

  • Hi.

have you been in the house since 1991?

If not, were there any improvements made since the 1991 valuation and you acquiring it?

Which band is your home in? Are you in England, Scotland or Wales?

If there are 2, 3, 4 and 5 bed houses in the same band it tends to suggest that the larger houses have been extended by the current owners (so cannot be re-banded until a sale occurs) or they are all underbanded.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
