Just got married...

... and was wondering, do we get any tax benefits now we are married.

I seem to remember something changing over this?

Anyway should I tell the tax man or does it make no difference??

Neither of us are self assessed just in normal employment.

Thanks.

Marriage does not affect your income tax status
£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths
  • Congratulations on the marriage.

The only tax breaks of being married relate to tax-free transfers for Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax.

As fengirl said, nothing for income tax, national insurance etc.
