in Cutting tax
Hi! I worked for 3 months and earned under the personal allowance amount of tax, so i shouldn’t have been taxed anything. However I was put on emergency tax for two months and then taxed something silly like £20 on my last paycheck. From research I’ve done, this emergency tax should have been paid back to me by my employer in the next months pay packet - but it wasn’t. Am I correct in thinking that I should get my money back at the end of the financial year from HMRC, if so will this happen automatically or do I need to send in a form? I also don’t have access to any of my payslip as I worked for a big corporation and since leaving, all of my personal details have been deleted etc and I can’t log in to the webpage where I was able to check this type of thing.
Seriously all help or advice massively appreciated!

Providing you don't need to file a Self Assessment return then yes HMRC will automatically refund any tax overpaid. No need for any forms.
But it won't be "at the end of the financial year".
Realistically you should expect it sometime in the summer/autumn.
Your employer could only have refunded it if you were on a cumulative tax code, an emergency (non cumulative) tax code prevents this.0 -

This sounds a little strange can you give details of this last payment
Taxable gross
Tax paid
Taxable gross to date
Tax paid to date
Tax code
Tax basis (usually after code eg X 0 1 C NC cumulative non-cumulative)
Just noticed you do not have payslips; can you remember rough figures?0 -

Could have been a payment after leaving, so not actually emergency tax.
But with so little to go it's all guesswork work really.0
