Hi I have been working as a carer for a disabled lady for 6 mth (my only job) I earn £180 per week the ladies mother pays me directly in full via cheque (no deductions) ive just gone online to register as self employed and it says "you may not be self employed if you work for one person only" could someone give me some advice on this before I continue with the form? should the family be employing me as an employee on PAYE?
many thanks

Ermm...right ok not sure what to do now as the lady I work for is 87 years old and won't have a clue that she is an employer. She just wants sometime off in the week for a rest from her daughter. Is there anyway round this with the inland rev? Legitimately obviously0

I really don't think that you have a problem here. Take a look at:
https://www.gov.uk/employment-status/selfemployed-contractor
and the checklists on that page. I suspect that you do, or would be able to, tick the majority of the items in those lists as self-employed.0
