OR interview

Hi everyone,

Went bankrupt on the 7th nov 07 and have got my telephone interview with the OR tomorrow morning at 9.30 AM. Asked if my OH needed to be there and she said it depends on how much information she can get but really she should speak to him, he has niomore time off to take you see.

Was just wondering, does anyone know the types of questions they will ask?

She sounds really abrupt and stern and i am absolutly bricking it!

Any help will do.

Cheers
Ash

    Hi Ash. :)

If your case isn't too complicated, then you will probably be asked things like.

    - How and why do you think you became insolvent?
    - When did you last obtain credit?
    - Queries on anything that might be unclear to the OR in terms of the debts you have listed and your I&E.
    - If you have a vehicle you wish too be allowed to keep they may query it's value, whether it's use is essential, and if any alternatives like public transport are possible.

(I'm sure I've missed some out there....)

Basically they will use the SOA as a starting point and try to fill in any gaps and uncertainties that remain. It is an "interview" not an "interrogation".

Also remember that it is probably the best time for you to ask questions of the OR. If you can get the interview flowing both ways, not only will it help you relax more, but you and they will achieve more by it.

Good luck, and I expect lots of the others will tell you what their interview was like.

  • HIya Fermi,

We made the decision to go bankrupt after we were unable to move due to our IVA with Debt Free Direct, they gave us permission to move. and after we had an offer on our house and we went to transfer our mortgage we were told we could not. We were very naive in all of this and have been led up the garden path by DFD.
I wanted to move to be next to my mum as she was dying from Leukemia and i was her carer.

So i think things should be straight forward as we have not used credit cards etc since dec last year.
Sold my car in July as was not working so the car we have i put a valuation in from an online company (£1200 quoted) and my OH uses this, also he has to be oncall on an evening plus to be honest it needs work doing to it.

But if they take it, they can have it.

Thanks for your always very helpful advice

Got nothing to hide but still really scared

Ah, I remember now.:o (Busy day)

In that case, I would think your interview would probably be very straight forward (I hope).

It's natural to be worried/scared about it. I dreaded mine, but it turned out to be painless. Each case and examiner is obviously different, but they are not out to punish you or trip you up.

Like going to court, it's one of those things that most people come out the other side wondering what they were worried about.;)

Make sure you let us know how it goes. :)

  • Yes i was slightly psychotic at the time of my very first post!

I felt sick going infront of the Judge at court but yeah that was painless.

I certainly will let you know how it goes.

    Once again thanks.

    Ash
