Warranty Inverter Replacement

Hi,

My Solaredge inverter has failed after only 2 years and SE have agreed a replacement. I initially contacted my installer but his warranty expired 6 weeks ago so he's going to charge me for fitting the replacement.

What would you regard as a fair price for this work?

Contact him and ask him to provide a quote stating what work is involved and what price he will charge you.

Then contact other installers and see what they would charge you.

As I understand it the replacement is being shipped to the installer so I'm stuck. I was wondering what a ball park cost would be so I know whether to challenge or not.

I got hit with a £175 fee when my SE inverter went pop.
But that was to a new installer as mine had gone awol so I expected that.
Luke did also sort out the mess that the original installers had made of the wiring.

Thank you theboylard. Not too bad but still 70% of my annual FIT Perhaps my installer will take pity

I would ask Solaredge to interceed with the installer if they quote an outrageous price, as it is unfair that the warranty binds you to use the orginal installer with no regard to the cost.

To be fair the installer hasn't yet given a price. I'm just getting a feel for what I should expect as given the circumstances it's hard to shop around.

For anyone interested the final bill was £120 + VAT.
