How I cleared a Virgin Media default off my equifax (2019)

I didn't see many success stories when desperately searching for help to remove a Virgin Media default off my credit card.. so I'd like to share what we did and the contact we found along the way to get a default cleared off my credit file.
When trying to get a mortgage we stumbled across an old default of £269 from Virgin Media.
We called the generic Virgin Media phone number and paid the default, despite reading online that even after doing so, Virgin Media can take months to clear the default off your file.
The lady gave us the generic creditfileammendments@virginmedia.co.uk address to email, which returned an auto-reply stating they could take up to 21 days just to acknowledge the email (and goodness only knows how long to actually update the Equifax to show £0). Having just a week or so left to obtain a DIP before losing the new build we'd reserved, this created a massive panic for us. I then headed online, desperately looking for an alternative way to update Equifax faster and came across a few email addresses:

I have no idea which of the above's office got back to us, but we literally had a phone call within 20 minutes. This was a Friday afternoon at about 4pm. I downloaded an updated Equifax report at 7pm Saturday night and the default had updated to £0!! In one day guys...
Anyone who's tried to achieve this result from Virgin Media will appreciate how difficult it is to even have a basic English conversation, never mind actually get a result.
Even if this post is found by one person in months to come and they get the help we did, it was worth sharing.
The phone number of the English office that called me back and helped me so promptly was: 02037062812
I spoke to a lovely man by the name of Matthew.
I appreciate that not everyone uses this site to obtain advice for paying off old defaults and where you can send a CCA request and get them wiped like I have in the past - go for it. But if you need super fast results to do something as important as buying your first house, the details I've provided may well be a massive help.

Well done, but - did you owe the £269 in the first place?0

you know they don't actually remove the default and this will still impact on your credit record?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Yes, we only needed it updated correctly, which looking over other people's posts can prove quite difficult. We managed to get a mortgage as we'd cleared the balance.1

Hi, I am reading your message above and having the same issue, I had paid this over two and a half years ago, for £60, but am having issue getting this off my credit report as it was never actually a default, I am not happy. May I have the amil addresses you use to get this sorted? please. Regards, Rob0

Hi Laura,
Thank you for your post. I'm in a similar position for £31.30 that they say I owe and I've had a Mortgage declined because of it.
Any chance of those E-mail addresses please?0 -

Hi! I know this an old thread but after finding it, I emailed Virgin and they are removing what they put on my credit report, so thank you and I urge others to do the same.0
