Unused pension allowance carry forward possible?

Hi,

I am currently only enrolled in my automatic workplace pension scheme, and have not used my full annual allowance for this year.

However I am expecting to be able to contribute more than the annual allowance limit next financial year and would like to know if there is anything I need to do before the end of March (like opening another pension account) this year, to be able to use this unused allowance in the next financial year?

As long as you have a pension you are paying into now there should be no issue even if you later decide to pay separately into another one.

Will you earn more than the allowance (£40k) next financial year?

Because the max you can pay in is what you earn in that year.

Nothing to do and you don't need to tell HMRC when you do carry forward unused allowance. Allowance from the current tax year is used first then from three, two and one year before.
