Morning all Im back
Had the most lovely week away and spent some quality time with my dd which is always lovely, the log cabin was beautiful and right in the middle of nowhere with a log burner and hot tubthe hot tub was used daily we would get in each evening with a glass or two of fizz and sit in it till the sun went down then came in and cooked a lovely dinner, it really was bliss and batteries have been recharged.
Came home yesterday to find the cleaner still here but just finishing off so a lovely tidy house and then OH went shopping and I watched a film and had a nap, it was bliss.
Today I have got up and stripped the beds and got then on a boil wash will remake them later. OH has gone out to the boot sale and we will have breakfast when he gets back.
Dinner tonight will be pork chops with dauphinoise potatoes asparagus and roasted tomatoes looking forward to it already.
TA I missed your Birthday while I was away so have a belated cake :bdaycake:hope you had a lovely day xx
Going to have a read back now and see what Ive missed, Gers I hope your mum is ok xx
If any one wants something to watch have a look at Afterlife on Netflix with Ricky Gervias its such a lovely bittersweet series about a man coping after his wife dies, its very sad and very funny at the same time, both OH and I loved it.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
What dreadful weather again. We also have the gale force winds and rain here.
I had a lie in this morning but now I feel like death warmed up, serves me right ! I've already opened a 4 pint carton of milk for my tea, put it on the worktop, then gone back in the fridge and opened another one :doh:Good job I'm not doing anything of importance today . Like old Worzel Gummidge I shall have to go and look for my thinking head :rotfl:
My plan today is to strip the bed and wash the bedding, then dust and hoover upstairs. I also need to sort the dried washing from yesterday into ironingand non-ironing :j. The DW will be filled after lunch and the "on" button pressed, not too taxing for me today, at least I hope my brain can manage to co operate with my finger :rotfl:.
Tea tonight will be something from the freezer, maybe kievs  ( thanks for that idea Nels ) anyway there's plenty to choose from and either jackets or wedgies.
Holly I have a halogen oven, it's really quick as opposed to a normal oven. I can do oven chips in 10 mins with it, no waiting for it to heat up like a normal one. HTH. Good call on the UTI and I hope the anti b's do their magic quickly.
ScarlettR we also tend to eat simple meals when 'vanning or we eat out, but I have wondered about getting a small slow cooker. Do you use it a lot ? I don't know if we would be just carting it around and not getting much use out of one
Camelot If you like painting my bathroom awaits your servicesWell done on all that furniture for the money :T.
Take care all and stay safe today. Sending healing vibes to the poorly people and hugs to anyone in need.

Hi Redruby nice to have you back  I'm glad you had a lovely time away in the cabin.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Hi everyone We had heavy snow this morning followed by heavy rain....now theres just slush. I had to go into town this morning for a few bits and to collect a prescription...I was home by 11. I've put the new cat flap in after biggest boy smashed it bringing a rabbit in, and put new collars on both cats with bells on...which might hinder their wildlife catching?
Having a quiet afternoon...I have pasta sauce to cook so I can make lasagne tomorrow. Other than htat I might get time to read my book. I'm having little grand daughter tonight for the first time....fingers crossed she sleeps. Shes been sleeping for 5 hours at a time this past week. She's 10 weeks old now and should have just been born last Wednesday.
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Hi all,
Hope you don't mind if I join? I need to get my OS mojo back.
Today I went back to the old house, waiting for the clearance man for 2 hours and he was a no show! I dismantled our furniture and piled it ready for collection, I will need to find someone else now as we need to hand the keys back a week Thursday.
I need to put some washing on, and nip to the shops. I had hoped OH would go to B&Q with me, as we need a new shower screen, hose and head but he's not dressed yet and is feeling under the weather. Doesn't seem to have any sense of urgency that we have to hand the old house back so need to finish moving!
Dinner will likely be chicken and leek pie or salmon, I've not yet decided, I might make the pie and we can have it tomorrow as I'm out all day so that's an easy dinner.
Have a great day all!0 -
Hi chums ,gosh its a windy day today and no mistake .I went food shopping and spent £24.90 which was really good as I got all I needed and lots of fruit and veg as well.Stocked up on UHT milk as it saves me a fortune.
I love my remoska and it even comes away on ur family holiday in August ,I only use my big oven now if I am baking .being a 'singly' its very useful for me I have had two and over the years its more than paid for itself .I whizz a jacket spud in the microwave until almost done and crisp it up in the 'moska,it also cooks things beautifully for me.
I am just about to go off to Dobbies for a mooch around, as I have a birthday present to buy for my DDs ma-in-law.I will be away on the IoW when its her birthday but Dd will give it to her for me I am thinking of getting her one of those lap-trays as being on her own now our Frank has sadly gone. I know she likes to sit by the fire to eat her lunch on her lap, plus she can use it when she has her Ipad on as well
I have a voucher for a free pot of tea and a cream scone so I will have a sit down after my shopping in there and have a nice cuppa and a cream scone as a treat
Hope everyone is safe and dry, H/Hester hope the boats not rocking around too much
Take care chums

Afternoon all.
Woke to snow, then it was snowing and now it's raining. The wind has died down except round the hospital where it's whipping round the stupid X shape of the building!
I went out early to do some shopping in case the snow got worse, it didn't so I hopped on a bus to see DM. Her spirits are very low, her pain controlled, her heart rate off the scale, her BP fine and her potassium levels getting back to normal.
I hope everyone is doing well.0 -
Afternoon folks. Windy here but I think I am starting to get used to it!
Gets sending good wishes for a speedy recovery to your Mum. Holly H hope you feel better quickly.
DS took us our for brunck this morning which was lovely as we haven't been out much this week. We went home vis As*da to pick up a few things and DS stockrd up on bits for his work lunches. He drovr his Dad's car to get familiar with rhe eco features and dash board. I find it really creepy when the engine turns itsel off at traffic lights. DH won't be able to drine for a least 6 weeks after his op and the hospital booklet says it could be up to a year.
DH is now up in the loft lsying track on the model railway to keep himself occupied. I am knitting and contmnplating making pastry for tonight's steak and mushroom pie. The filling smells lovely in the sloe cooker.
Well keep warm and safe today all. Hugs to poorlirs, carers and worried."It's hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world"0 -
Hi everyone
Gers
Fingers and toes crossed that you mother's spirits lift and her physical condition continues to improve. Shivering at the thought of snow. We are just rainy and very windy round here.
Had an indulgent lie in with a good book then a bacon toastie and coffee before going out to visit a dd in York. I wanted to treat her to a small present and remembered I still had Boots points so did not have to spend any money. I then spent the money I had saved on a healthy lunch of chicken salad and got home around four feeling very windswept.
Could not resist a bargain pizza for tonight but taking the chance to put my feet up first and watching an episode of "Space 1999". Looks like a quiet day tomorrow as older dd has her in laws staying, I saw her twin today, youngest is in Manchester and middle dd is on Holiday in Poland. Just hope I don't decide to slob around in a dressing gown and then someone turns up much to my discomfiture.
Holly
I have a large remoska and it made great scones and rolls etc without needing to use a big oven. I still have it but find I seldom use it since I treated myself to a pressure king pro. I have the five litre one which is cheaper than the remoska and the three litre one is only about £49. They work as a pressure cooker, slow cooker. saute pot, casserole and dutch oven and mean I am not constantly standing over a hob or lifting heavy pots from a large oven. I made a huge chicken and veg pasta the other day and just put everything in the inner pot. Two portions are now in the freezer and I had two large portions myself the other day. I even made beef and veg stew and dumplings in it and my son in law and dd loved it.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Afternoon all,
Being very lazy today, read papers this am, having had BLT for breakfast......am currently half watching my 3rd rugby match of the afternoon, disgusted with Ireland's performance against Wales....looks as if England are home and hosed although Scotland have just scored a try......not keen on one sided games, doesn't hold my attention. At 7 there is is a Gaelic football match between Kerry and Mayo, as OH is from Kerry we will have to watch that......unless I fall asleep.
Sympathy for those of you with snow, or heavy rain,.we had rain earlier but can actually see some blue sky now.
Good on you Holly for dealing so quickly with the UTI, had them frequently in my child bearing years but none for years now thankfully.
OH bought some steak this morning, neither of us is hungry yet, might make a steak sandwich in a bit, beef is not my favourite and OH loves it, will wait and see.
Gers....hope that DM continues to improve, recovery takes longer as the years stack up.
Welcome home Ruby, glad to hear that you had a lovely break.
Stay inside and warm everybody, knitting for me soon and an early night.

Hello! I'm New to this thread.
Call me Arty.
Well I see it benbut life has been somtoosy the year that's had to go on the back burner.
Looks like you all, talk about the weather, so...it's raining in Norn Iron.
Old style tip- having read of horrid uti above, my daughter used to suffer regularly.
She was told so many different things by gps,
No rough **x- she was single!
No thongs .- guilty but she changed styles.
Eventually she twigged herself that she always got one after her period.
She's has sensitive skin, as it turns out, inside as well as on her face!
It's was the cotton wool, tampons she was reacting to.
A change to a Diva cup and she has not has a UTI for years.
Your circumstances are likely different but hopefully this may help someone who reads it.
I must get on with my day now, we have exchange students staying to a few nights. Nice kids and a bit of extra cash for me.Norn Iron Club member 4730
