When you were young, fair enough - but the OP is 48 !!
He has probably been teaching since he was 22 and would have just dropped into the TPS as I did - I doubt he ever gave it a thought, I certainly didn't.
DB schemes just insulate you from cruel reality I guess... this is even more the case when the scheme is non-contributory and final salary.0 -

I absolutely agree that parents should be taking much more responsibility in teaching their kids. Not just about finances but also the curriculum.
I suppose my main point was questioning why on Earth are pensions etcnof considered essential learning for everyone.0 -

If they did 8 hours a day for the whole 9 months of the school year they'd still be well under what private industry expects (and usually gets).The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
