Came home and it is freeeezing.
Radiators are cold, timer on the boiler comes on, but the little blue light on the boiler doesn't come on.
Do I really have to pay out for a new boiler or is the a hope for a repair????
Can someone please advice???? How did my boiler know it is the coldest so far this year?????

if the pilot light isn't starting it could easily be fixable(it might not be but it's certainly cheaper than a new boiler in the short term)0

mine does that pretty often this days. I have to turn it off at the electric, pop the cover off and there's a little red button on the left hand side (Baxi boiler) that i have to press with a screw driver.0

Who cares if it's cold when you get such caring people on this site... Ok Will stop bragging now. Seriously thanks to you guys.
After being so freeeezing cold last night I can't bear the thought of having to be with no heating again, so have no choice but to call in professional to sort it.
Trouble is how do I know who is good and who is going to tell me porkies and take my hard earned money away from me... Ha-ha (not funny really)
Thank you guys.
Any good plumbers in SS area (essex)????Debtfee from 20090 -

There is an on/off switch, which hasn't changed anything when we tried last night.Debtfee from 20090 -
you'll need to lift the cover off the front and there'll be a little reset button inside it. I had the same problem as you and called somebody out who showed me where it was a and just told me to reset it if it happened again.
Happening quite often now so i need to get it serviced.0 -

I see, thank you. Actually managed to find a plumber and hour ago, so he should be around a bit later.
I do hope you are right though and it is really that simple. I don't want to pay out for a new boiler. Just managed to pay a little bit more of my hubby's debt this month.Debtfee from 20090 -
My boiler is an Ideal Classic - I think it's about 7 years old.
Never been a problem, but this morning I've tried to switch on the rads and the boilers gone out.
Where do I find the reset button? Has it got one? Or do I keep persisting with the instructions on the drop-down flap?
Thanks in advance.0 -
If its one that has a drop down flap at the front the re-set switch is inside the drop down flap but on the right hand side of the boiler ... not on the front but just round the corner on the right#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
