Apprenticeships and paying child support

Can anyone help?

I have paid maintence through a private agreement for the last 14 years. My son has turned 16 and started an apprenticeship where he works 4 days and studies for 1.

I understand I do not have to pay this anymore as it is not approved training however his mother (who knows his employer) is threatening to have the employer reduce his hours to below 30 - and increase his study to above 12 hours- all so she can continue to claim child benefit and maintence.

As I understand it - this still would not qualify for the above? Can anyone shed any light?

Why not ask CMS to define your current liability.

The problem with threats is that they may come to something or may not. After all there are at least 3 people in the decision. A 16 year old may have a view. And the educational establishment/employer may have a view on capability / suitability.

Sometimes you have to call a bluff.
Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.

The law is like an ocean - have a swim but don't drown.
