  • I'm so glad I came across this,I thought it was me. I keep buying the odd jar in the hope it's back to how it was, and recently my daughter gave me hers as she said she had gone off it....I loved mixing the paste and eating it !! Now it seems darker, doesnt mix, doesnr froth up, and just tastes synthetic. Now I know why. I am going to email them too..how dare they change something like that! I used to love horlicks tablets too.

I wholeheartedly concur with all the above criticism.  The new product is horrible.  I have binned mine and will never buy the product again.  So sad.
  • I miss Horlicks so much.  I managed to find four jars of the original when it first changed but they’ve run out and nothing else quite works.  Was thinking of buying a jar to see if it had magically reverted back but shan’t bother I think.

Hooray for people who know their flavours. Original? Traditional? The allowed use of these descriptors I. UK products is too vague. Like others I complained to Horlick and was fobbed off.
Remember Virol and like malted barley drinks? There are similar products (without the codliver oil!) that have a satisfying malt flavour, by the spoonful or whisked in hot milk. Not quite like 'old' Horlicks but I prefer it to so called 'Original'.
I might try it with powdered milk ( if that's still as it was in 1950s!).
