Hi I have just collected an online reservation of an external HDD from Currys and have now realised that I have been given a different model to what I ordered.
I'm not sure of the difference although I have compared the 2 models.

I ordered https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/data-storage/external-hard-drives/wd-my-passport-portable-hard-drive-4-tb-black-10154526-pdt.html

and received https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/data-storage/external-hard-drives/wd-elements-se-portable-hard-drive-4-tb-black-10172487-pdt.html

I paid £76.49 after using a discount code

I want it to back up my laptop and photos.
Has the mix up put me at a disadvantage?

The elements one is simply a hard drive.

The passport one is also a hard drive, but has bundled software included on the drive.

They have the same capacity, but the one you wanted would have lost some to the software, leaving you with less.

I think you're better off with the elements one.

The elements one has 2 years gaurantee and the other one 3.

Plus the item number on the receipt doesn't match the item I was given. The assistant took all the info from my reservation and picked the hard drive off the shelf.

She produced the receipt from the reservation and not from the item.
    It needs sorting I think.

    thanks

I've bought both types in the past but I've never bothered to use the software. I just drag what files I want to back up manually.

As said though if it doesn't match the purchase details you have then you may have problems with the waranty if you ever need to use it.
  • yep returned and was exchanged for the Hard drive that matched the receipt...… just in case.
