Car loan while waiting for house purchase to complete

Hello. I am in the latter stages of completing on house, in fact I should have the keys in 3 weeks or less. Now, my car has just decided to give up on life so a new one is required. I am wondering if applying for a car loan though, could adversely affect my mortgage application? Mortgage is approved and my offer is in place.I am also wondering as my credit rating has just taken a bit of a hit, which I would assume is due to hard searches from mortgage and will recover, it would be really stupid to get any more credit till that has recovered and i should just try hold out. Any thoughts?

Under no circumstances should you get a car loan before completion unless you have an alternative way of paying for the house.

Your credit rating doesn't matter. It doesn't reflect how lenders are viewing you.

What happened to your car that you need to replace it, can you not get it fixed?

Engine is dead as a dodo, just not worth fixing it. I will take the advice though and stay well clear of any credit until I'm in new house at least, will need to wait for electoral register to update etc. I'll get a wee cheap banger for cash,something to keep me mobile for a few months. Thanks for the advice
