PCP from BMW but car milage is not as advertised
Hi, looking for some assistance.
Just bought a used BMW from a main dealer. The advert had the milage as 10,000 miles but upon delivery it had near 12,000 miles.
We took out a PCP, for 3 years at 10,000 miles per year. The contract shows the start milage as 10,000 and the end milage at 40,000 miles.
We did not see the car "in person" but bought over the internet/phone.
I have quizzed the dealer but they have stated that there's no real differnace in a car on 10k miles or 12k miles - I think this is rubbish.
When I also questioned the lease - they have stated that there is some "grace period/tollerance" at the end of the PCP - so it won;t be an issue - again I feel this is rubbish,
What is bugging me.... in addition to the above, is I'm dealing with a main BMW dealership, are they telling the truth? and isnt it illegal to advertise a car with the wrong milage ... and this has made it;';s way onto the fiance docs?
Apprechite any assistance.

If you are a sensible MSE person you will be buying the car at the end, not going in a cycle of PCP costs every 3 years and never owning a car, thus the mileage won't matter.
However, if you want to waste money and trade in for a new car at the end, if you hit 40k and go over you will be stung for mileage and you have effectively been "robbed" of 2k miles . Take your evidence (photo of mileage on delivery which of course you took; paperwork from dealer saying the car had 10k miles etc) and make an official complaint to the dealer. Do it in writing, obtain proof of posting from the PO and see what they come back with.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Why, why, why did you sign for the car without seeing it? Utter madness.
You need to get the start mileage sorted with the lease company or you have been deprived of 2k miles. If you exceed 40k miles at the end of the lease, you will pay excess mileage on those missing miles. Don’t believe the dealer when they say there is grace on the mileage.
The difference between a car with 10k miles and 12k miles is negligible at most.0 -
" Utter madness." - not totally.
The dealer and finance compnay have both confirmed as we did not see the car, or set foot in the delaership we are covered in the sense can walk away from the "deal". They will take the car back and the finance will be cancelled and deposit returned. NO REASON needed.
So apart from the hassle at least we can buy another.
We have found another car on the BMW website that's just come on, slightly cheaper price but only 1k miles, so we wil go for that,
I also spoke to BMW Finance today, and they also confirmed there is no "grace period/tollerance" at the end of the PCP .
So dealing "at distance" does have it's benefits.0 -
I think you have dodged a bullet there....best not sign up to another lease and buy a car outright with your own money.0

Contact the finance company right away, 2k is 2k less you can drive it without been chargedDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
