Can I buy cheaper national express tickets

I've booked a weeks holiday in blackpool in july and I'm thinking of traveling by national express coach but is their a website that does cheaper bus tickets as I'm looking at £105 return for 1 adult and 1 child.

Does it have to be by coach?
Check trains, by travelling off peak (and booking in advance) you may get better deals.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

I've now booked with national express coach. I did think of going by train but it was £137 and I didn't like the 2 changes as I'm not very good on trains and I'd probably end up getting on the wrong train.

I recently found a couple of instances where it was possible to undercut the fares charged by National Express.

Firstly, some of the buses linking London with Stansted Airport that are offered on the Easybus website are operated by National Express. While you can book them on the National Express website, the fares there are up to twice as much as those charged on the Easybus site.

Secondly, I considered a long journey from Bath: the first leg of the journey was a local bus to Bristol bus station, and from there a National Express coach. The extra cost of buying this journey starting in Bath, as opposed to buying it from Bristol to the final destination, was about 11 pounds. The fare on the local bus was about 3.50.

If you're of a certain age you could take advantage of this

In case anybody doesn't quite get this, Voyager is stating that to buy the two legs of the journey separately would be about £7.50 cheaper than buying the whole journey on one ticket. It's not just National Rail that offers these anomalous rip-offs!
Out of interest OP, from where will you be starting your journey?
