Applied for a loan but the account is a joint account
Hello
I have applied for a loan and was surprised that i got declined. I was wondering if it might be because on the page that asks for your direct debit information, sort code, bank account number and name of account holder, I was unable to put both names, it wouldn't accept it. I am applying for a personal loan in my name, not a joint loan, so I put in my name, which is the second name on the account. In the past I have always filled in the forms by hand, this time it was online. Could this be why I was declined.

Makes no difference if you can only put one name in the account holder details. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Ok thank you. I asked because I read on the Sainsbury loan site that you should put the first name on the account if it is a joint account. I tried at the post office, as the loan finder tool on this site said I had a 95% chance. I am not sure though as I may of been reading about joint loans and not joint bank accounts. I am unsure, as trying somewhere, a lot of people say can make you look desperate. I could phone and ask, I guess, before trying somewhere else and see if it is a problem. It seems you are quite sure though.0

I've done this multiple times personally as has the wife, both named on the same joint account which is why I'm sure about it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
