Company pension payments still being made

Hi, I’m new to the forum so apologies if this has been asked and answered before. I was made redundant in October 2018. My employer and I had both been making payments into a private pension fund. It has just come to my attention, 4 months later, that my employer is still making payments into my pension fund - the sum of which equals our previously combined payments. What do I do - should I tell them? If I do tell them, can they clam it back - I obviously can’t pay it back as I can’t access the pension money? Thanks for your help.

I'd tell them as soon as you can. I appreciate it must be tempting to keep quiet but they're bound to discover it eventually and they're entitled to be refunded on payments made in error, and it seems to me you'd just be storing up hassle...0

Tell them and let them sort it out. Much easier for them to fix it now than try and unentangle it the longer it goes on.0

Tell them. They will be able to claim it back from the pension provider (one of the few examples where an employer can do so) because it was a 'contribution made in genuine error'.0

Thank you all your replies - I think the answer is clear.0

Did your redundancy include, for instance, 6 months pay in lieu of notice? Is it possible that all normal benefits & perks are also subject to 6 months notice so they carry on paying for that period? The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

You might be lucky in that they may just write off the extra contributions , if it is only a few months, and just leave them in your pension .0
