I used a previous posting of this to locate a voucher and saved myself £20 - now I'm taking the prescription to Cyprus to get the specs at a non-rip-off price (D&A quoted me £370 JUST FOR THE LENSES).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Change of plan. My mother recommended a small firm near her home who operate out of what can only be described as 'lower end' premises (frankly, a shed might be a better desription).

However, nothing ventured, nothing gained, I went along with my D&A prescription to see what they could do.

Very 'personable' and efficient reception and service and, within 20 minutes, I had ordered my new glasses.

    The price?

£95 for the lenses and £47 for the frames - a bit better than £370 plus frames at D&A!

Thanks for this. Just printed off voucher for my son. He's applying for a job and needs a sight test, which up until now would have been at his own expense!

I have purchased glasses from Specsavers, Vision Express, and local opticians. I have also purchased from Cyprus. However I have never found a pair better than those purchased from D and A.
My eyesight is bad and the special, thin glass they used really made a difference both to the appearance and weight of the glasses.
So although I am always looking for a bargain I think I would prefer to pay the extra and pay D and A prices on this one.

Cannot remember the name but will post details after collecting the glasses.

It was at Baurgh Green, Barnsley. I will ask tomorrow if they are online or if there is a phone line service.
