Continence wear/puppy pads?

Options
Hi everyone,

Excuse the subject but my dad is bowel incontinent. Been on that many antibiotics and had C Diff etc means he's very 'loose'. He also has an indwelling catheter.

He's been prescribed pads that are 60cm by 20cm and frankly they don't really help that much.

I've asked if he could have the tena square sheets but they don't issue them for incontinence - only use them when the nurses are doing certain procedures.

We are just going to have to buy the tena 60cm by 60cm sheets but they are very expensive for the amount of times they will be changed.

My question is: would the puppy pads be safe to use. Lots of nurses have said that a lot of people use them. However, recently a nurse told me that she had been told (not sure by whom) that there is a chemical in the puppy pads to neutralise urine odour and that it could cause irritation.

Does anyone know if this is true. Has anyone had a bad reaction to the puppy pads? I'd be very grateful for any response - both for and against using them. Thank you in advance.
